London design festival

If you live in London and are interested in the creative industries and design, this year’s London Design Festival should be on your calendar. I’ll be checking it out and finding cool work to report back here. There are literally hundreds of events around London, usually free and that give you a great insight into the schools, businesses and freelancers involved in the meta conversation around design in London and around the world. Really worth checking out.

Featured portfolio: Simon Oliver

I’m going to start collecting the work from interesting creative people in the area of mobile from now on. I saw Simon Oliver’s talk at an event in London called This happened and thought it was worth mentioning here.

In this case, I was attracted to his game Rolando where he uses his experience with Flash to make touch and position dependant interactions with the user. Really great stuff.

Conference formats

Found out about Swat Summit that took place in San Francisco last July.

SWAT Summit looks at how agencies and brands can harness the power of social networks. This conference is for anyone who wants to be a leader in the next generation of marketing and advertising — and for the publishers, developers, and ad networks who work with them.

I wondered whether there will come a point where dedicated conferences for mobile advertisers will take place. Know of any?
